Employer advice, case letters and document updates for a fixed monthly fee. The contracts and handbook are put right at the start. There is no minimum term and no notice period.
Four bands
The benefits are identical in every band. The workforce size sets the monthly fee; the one-off setup fee reflects the work needed on your contracts and handbook.
The setup fee is separate and prominent: it is a single charge for the contracts and handbook work, not part of the monthly fee. No minimum term and no notice period.
No VAT is currently charged on fees
What the one-off setup fee covers
- —An initial review of your existing contracts of employment and staff handbook.
- —The necessary rewriting where those documents do not reflect current law or how the business actually works.
- —Agreed changes arising from the review, confirmed with you in writing before the work is done.
The scope and fee are confirmed in writing before the work starts. Larger organisations, or groups with several sites or entities, are scoped and priced individually — contact us to discuss.
What the monthly membership covers
- —Employer advice on workplace questions during business hours, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
- —Individual case letters for a live workplace matter — grievance, disciplinary, capability, sickness, redundancy or settlement.
- —Updates to the contracts, policies and letters prepared for you when legislation changes, or when the business changes during membership.
- —ACAS assistance, including an ACAS matter that was already underway when the employer joined.
Anything genuinely additional — a substantial investigation, complex tribunal work, or training — is agreed with you in writing and priced before it starts.
We acknowledge an enquiry within one working day during business hours. An acknowledgement is not substantive advice: a considered advice response to a workplace question ordinarily follows within two working days of receiving the papers, and we tell you if a matter needs longer.
What is not included
- Health and safety support — not included in the membership.
- Tribunal preparation and representation — separately priced, including hearing representation.
- Tribunal award insurance — the membership is not insurance against an award.
- HR software — not included.
Tribunal work — preparation, case management and hearing representation — can be purchased separately, at the stage fees shown on the tribunal page. See the stage fees. Accepting a current dispute at joining does not make tribunal work part of the monthly subscription.

We do not ask anyone to sign a five-year agreement, and the comparison below shows the contract length each provider works to. What we do charge for is the opening documentation: the contracts and handbook work is a single setup fee, shown separately from the monthly fee rather than spread through a long contract.
Health and safety support, tribunal preparation and representation, tribunal award insurance and HR software are not included in Talk Legal’s membership. Tribunal work can be bought separately, stage by stage, and priced in writing. Practical advice and clear documents help employers manage risk.
