TalkLegal — Determined to Win

Institute of Financial Accountants

Your clients’ legal problems, at member rates

20% off the published fees, a fixed leasehold package and discounted employer membership. These are member-only rates, and the figure is confirmed in writing before any charge is made.

Why these problems reach you

The client asks you first

An unpaid invoice, a service-charge demand, a difficult employee. The papers are already with you, so the legal question arrives with the accounts.

It needs doing properly

The free assessment comes first. If paid work follows, the scope and the fee are agreed in writing, so your client is not left with an open-ended hourly arrangement.

You keep the relationship

We act on the single matter the client instructs. An introduction does not create a retainer, and we keep you informed only at the points you ask for.

How an introduction works

No access code and no paperwork needed to start. Tell us the problem in a sentence or two and we’ll take it from there.

  1. 1

You introduce the client, or simply flag the problem to us with their agreement.

  2. 2

We speak to the client directly and confirm the scope of the matter and the member rate in writing.

  3. 3

We do the work and, with the client’s authority, update the referring firm at the points you agree — or stay out of the relationship entirely, if that is what the client prefers.

We acknowledge every enquiry within one working day, and the member rate is confirmed in writing before any charge is made.

These are rates Talk Legal offers to IFA members and their clients. Talk Legal is not endorsed by, and has no formal agreement with, the Institute of Financial Accountants.

The Legal Brief · IFA Special Edition No. 1

The Budget: the tax changes make headlines — but what about the legal traps?

Talk Legal publishes a special edition of The Legal Brief written specifically for Institute of Financial Accountants members and the business clients they advise. It is separate from the regular newsletter, dedicated to the situations accountants so often see first, and free to read without a member access code.

Edition No. 1 looks beyond the Budget of 28 October 2026 at the legal consequences: unpaid HMRC debts and directors’ duties, selling a company and the sale agreement, money taken out of a company, online marketplace VAT, disputed returns, and the point at which a financial problem becomes a legal one. Further IFA editions will follow.
