Why choose Talk Legal

Personal attention, relevant experience and defined work — with the fee agreed in writing before anything is charged.

1

You speak to an experienced person, and the assessment is free

We talk to you. We listen to what has happened, read the essential documents you send, and tell you what we think — ordinarily without charge. Where it’s appropriate, we put that assessment in writing so you have something to keep and consider.

We’re prepared, at our discretion, to spend up to two hours on an enquiry without charge, and sometimes longer where we consider it justified. There is a limit to what can be done without charge, so we concentrate on the documents that define the matter rather than on an entire archive.

2

The fee is published, defined and agreed before any charge

Our published fees are on the prices page. In most of our work, a fixed fee covers a defined, agreed scope: a particular claim, hearing or piece of drafting. Where a matter falls outside a fixed band — most company and commercial work, for example — it’s individually quoted in writing rather than estimated on the telephone.

If a matter turns out to need more work than the agreed scope, we discuss it with you and agree a revised fee before doing it. Nothing is charged unless you agree our written terms first.

3

Specialists, deliberately narrow

We specialise in key areas of legal work, and we don’t go beyond them: small claims, leasehold property, employment for employers, company and commercial work, and independent second opinions on litigation already under way.

That focus is deliberate. If your matter falls outside those areas, we’ll tell you plainly rather than take it on.

No charges until you agree in writing

No fee is chargeable unless you agree our written terms first. The free assessment page explains what it does and does not include, and the prices page shows how fees are set.

Talk to us first

Tell us what has happened and send the documents that matter. There’s no charge for the assessment, and no obligation to instruct us.
